Year 5 Trip Test post
Year 5 went on a trip
Raducanu Class Gardening Blog
In April, Raducanu Class went on a mini beast hunt with Alice! It was very exciting and we were lucky enough to find all sorts of different creepy crawlies.
Before we went out to the garden, Alice told us about the best places to look for the mini beasts and how to go about finding them. She gave us some tips on how to collect and keep them without damaging or frightening them. She explained what the different tools were and how to use them.
When we got to the garden, we collected our tools, put on our gloves and we were ready to hunt! We looked in the soil, under logs and rocks, on leaves and in pollen, and we found a really wide range of insects. It was really interesting to see where different insects like to spent time – some of them like the light and colourful flowers, whereas others like the dark and damp safety of the underside of a log.
When we got back upstairs to the classroom, we spent some time observing our mini beasts and deciding what type of insects they were. We had a go at drawing them to get to know the different parts of their bodies. What a great morning we had!
